To Whom It May Concern:

In the Spring of 2009, we began the process of looking for a construction company/general contractor to build a screened-in porch. We initially contacted three contractors to bid on the project. The first company failed to call us back. The second builder provided a great price, however he showed up late for the appointment and suggested that he could cut down on costs by forgoing building permits and inspections. The third builder was professional and provided a good design, however he was not receptive to customer input for design changes.

When I met with Matt Millsap of Building Company No. 7, I immediately sensed that he had an intimate knowledge of construction practices. Matt really listened to what we wanted, and then created a working design based on our conversations. Matt was receptive to modifying the design and building materials when we requested it, and accommodated changes to fit within our budget.

When we gave Matt the go-ahead to do the job, his crew was there immediately to pour footers after all the permits were pulled. He scheduled all of the subs, inspected their work, and made sure that it was done correctly. We opted to receive updates by e-mail, and he sent us a summary of what occurred that day and what to expect next on almost everyday of the project. Matt does not take his final draw until the punch list is complete, unlike many builders who want the check when the job is substantially completed. He did not “leave us hanging”, i.e. promising to come back some time later to fix the loose board, paint touch-up, etc. Everything was done in a timely fashion

In summary, I would strongly recommend Matt Millsap and Building Company No. 7 for any construction/ remodeling work you are considering. We have worked with many contractors in the past, but this is the first time I felt compelled to write a reference letter.
